Kankakee County Divorce Records

Divorce records pertaining to dissolution of marriage cases at the Circuit Court are a subset of family law records generated during proceedings to formalize a couple's legal separation.

Individual documents in the divorce include the initial complaint, the respondent's answer in a contested case, motions and other filings, judicial orders and rulings, and the final decree.

The Circuit Court Clerk issues certified copies of the divorce decree to anyone who requests it, and makes other documents in the case available for public inspection as well. Alternatively, individuals can obtain a certification of dissolution of marriage from the state's Division of Vital Records.
